Cost - Moving long distance can be very costly. Obtaining accurate estimates are important and will insure there are no unexpected or hidden charges. Our guaranteed “not to exceed” prices are our trademark and are what makes our customers keep coming back over and over. In general, interstate moves are broken down into 3 components:
Line Haul – The cost to transport your household goods from Point A to Point B. This price can be provided to you in either cubic feet or weight. When you are moving a small amount of items, it is more efficient to get the price in cubic feet. This is a very accurate method. For a larger move, the weight option can be equally as efficient. When choosing this method, the exact weight will be determined only after the truck has been loaded and the price can then be adjusted either higher or lower. For cubic feet, the price is determined up front based upon the list of items you are moving. Adding to the list or removing items will adjust the price proportionally.
Packing - Arthur Werner provides free wrapping of furniture using clean, padded moving blankets. This service includes dismantling basic furniture and reassembling it at the new location at no charge. We provide a range of packing services that includes basic protection of furniture, partial packing of breakables, or a full pack of your entire home. You can customize the amount of packing to be performed by the movers based on your needs. Additional charges will apply to packing. In general, packing for interstate moves is determined by the box. For example, if a china box needs to be packed, the charge will include the labor and the materials.
Valuation - The basic valuation coverage of $.60 per pound as is required by the U.S. Dept. of Transportation is included in your move costs at no additional charge. You can obtain other types of coverage either through
Arthur Werner or your own insurance company. To get more information about insurance options, please

In addition to these primary cost components, you may be subject to other charges on a special needs basis. As example, there may be extra charges for custom made wooden crates, hoisting, long carry or stairs at the delivery destination. All these will be discussed up front prior to your move and will be included in your total move cost quote. Another important issue that can arise is getting a tractor trailer access to your new home. In some cases, they can not approach and need to be off-loaded to a smaller truck for delivery. In this case, there might be an extra cost for the labor time. Notifying the estimator of any special circumstances surrounding your move is very important in insuring your move is performed as smoothly as is possible and your price is as accurate as possible.
